Bassmint Music to relaunch Bassmintmusic.com
(Columbus Ohio)-
Bassmint Music Inc. (BmMI), an online record label (i-label) and music publishing company, since 2001, are preparing the re-launch of it's online music store
Bassmintmusic.com. The new date is 28, June 2007.
Bassmint launched its Beta v1.0 online music store back on 28, September 2005 [see
Find New Music in Bassmint (Hugel, W., 2005) &
Apple's iPod dominates the MP3 Scene" (Stanley, L., 2005).]
Bassmint's, president & CEO
Jerry Calliste Jr. (BIO) said, "We pushed the date back to coincide with the release of several new artists projects and the close of the second quarter '07. If we have to push the date back another quarter in order to provide more time for the team to create the new look and feel we are looking for we will do so." When asked about the new design,
Calliste Jr. said, "
Bassmintmusic.com Beta v2.0 is a streamlined version of Beta v1.0." "We learned a lot during our first launch and feel these changes were necessary. There's no need to rush things. We are excited about the re-launch. We also wanted to give our design team and programmers as much time as they need to deliver a quality product."
Calliste Jr., born in the Bronx, New York where he lived until he was about 5 years old then raised in North Manhattan (Inwood - Washington Heights area), moved to Ohio in 1993 and originally founded
Bassmintmusic.com in 1999 to support local club promotions in Columbus. This seasoned recording artists, producer, songwriter and entertainment industry executive, of 23 years recognized an opportunity was in the making during the
Napster years. So he decided back in 2001, to incorporate
Bassmintmusic.com, research the feasibility of selling entertainment products as online media - MP3s and launched
Bassmint Music Inc. He also decided to locate
Bassmint's corporate office in Columbus, Ohio.
"Columbus, Ohio is made up of genuinely 'good people' and a solid student population that creates a great atmosphere that's comfortable to live and work in." says
Calliste Jr. "
The Ohio State University has the largest student populated campus in the nation with 50,000 plus students. In addition there are at least 6 neighboring colleges and universities, that collectively offer
Bassmint an opportunity to instantaneously and cost effectively test our entertainment products to our target demographic."
Calliste Jr. is currently a double major, I.T. & M.I.S./Vantage MBA student attending the
Ross School of Management & Leadership at
Franklin University also located in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to the new look and feel of the online store,
Bassmint will implement a new promotions strategy and feature new artists.
"
Bassmint has signed new independent artists whom the company will feature during the re-launch." He adds, "We are always looking to sign, market, promote and sell talented independent artists who create many styles of music."
Bassmint will continue to sell MP3s and add CD sales to the new store. The creation of ring tones and licensing deals for wearable merchandise is underway. It's also worth mentioning that the redesign of
Bassmint's record label and music publishing company web site
BMMI.BIZ will immediately follow the re-launch of
Bassmintmusic.com. Calliste Jr. said "One site at a time, one site at a time."

Bassmint at 6 ready to roll
(Columbus Ohio)-
Bassmint Music Inc. (BmMI), an online record label (i-label) since 2001, is now 6 years old as of 13 April 2007.
Bassmint within the last 6 years has signed over 15 independent artists from around the world and currently co-publishes up to 250 songs through
Caldella Music.
"The first two years were spent researching the opportunity and signing select new talent to find out how receptive artists would be to our new company," says
Bassmint's president & CEO,
Jerry Calliste Jr. "
Apple Inc. confirmed part of our research with the birth of
iTunes.com in 2003 and one million plus downloads sold by 2004," says
Calliste Jr. Calliste Jr., continued to research and observe the developing online digital music market as the
R.I.A.A. pursued college students throughout the U.S. who illegally filed swapped and as the legal issue of file swapping made its way to the U.S. Supreme Court (2005). Record labels won the decision.
Bassmintmusic.100megs.com was initially registered on one of a myriad of free web hosting sites sometime in early 1999. It was used to support local club promotions.
Bassmintmusic.com, as it's known today is almost 8 years old. It was created on 26 July 1999 as a "legitimate" domain to support its local club promotions and attract songwriters, producers and music publishers.
Calliste Jr. and company transformed
Bassmintmusic.com the static web site into an e-commerce based solution using open source software and outsourced programmers and launched its beta v1.0 on 28 September 2005.
Calliste Jr. says, "We located and project managed the outsourced programmers from 2003 to 2005. We hired 5 or 6 outsourced teams from India, Croatia and Pakistan at different stages of development. They were independently contracted under 'work-for-hire' agreements to develop our customized e-commerce based solution
Bassmintmusic.com ."
Calliste Jr. adds, "It was an interesting learning curve for me especially since my experience comes by way of 20 plus years of traditional record label operations, music publishing and an entertainment industry style of management." says
Calliste Jr. Since September 2005 and before
Bassmint removed the store from the web the company registered an undisclosed number of users and secured sales in Germany, Denmark, Canada and throughout the U.S.
Calliste Jr. says, "We know our business model works worldwide so we wanted to improve the interface and functionality partly based on feedback from our registered users and also because we needed to complete the design. These sales were only triggered by online promotions we have many other promotions strategies in store."
Over the years
Bassmintmusic.com developed significant web traffic from it's many street promotions and club promotion campaigns, e-mail promotions with people who joined our newsletter and V.I.P. lists, search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, and click through hits from music directory listings and banner exchange. It should be noted that
Bassmintmusic.com saw web traffic increase by to 400% for four consecutive weeks during an online promotions campaign (July, 2005), where our web promo tech's (Bassmint's term for online promoters) invited users to
Bassmintmusic.com to listen to new music.
Bassmint has managed to develop key on (college) campus networks through the company's online internship programs. For two consecutive years, 2005 and 2006 season
Bassmint partnered with the
Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball team where the CAVS recognize and participate in
Bassmint's "First Step Initiative". Calliste says, "We are still growing the initiative and locating additional sponsors." The initiative was created by Calliste Jr. with the assistance of a student intern from
OSU.
On 9 March 2006,
Bassmint decided to separate the entities and registered it's own domain
BMMI.BIZ for label operations and as a gateway to the music publishing company Caldella Music a publisher member of
ASCAP. "We decided to separate the entities back in late 2005 and implemented the change during the first quarter of '06", says
Calliste Jr. who is very optimistic about the future of
Bassmint Music Inc. and
Bassmintmusic.com.
Bassmint has collected six years of research and development information by observing online music companies, consumer online spending behavior patterns and statistics particularly online media sales and observing the development of social networks such as
Myspace.com and
Facebook.com.
Calliste Jr. feels the company knows what works and more importantly what doesn't work. He believes now is the time to re-launch the new online store design
Bassmintmusic.com's Beta v2.0 and let it slowly grow into its own new success.
The company is preparing the re-launch of
Bassmintmusic.com for 28 June 2007. Initially
Bassmint scheduled the re-Launch for 28 May 2007. The company anticipates the re-launch will be closer to 28 June 2007.
Calliste Jr., says, "We pushed the date back to coincide with the release of several new artists projects and the close of the second quarter '07."

Bassmintmusic.com will continue to sell MP3s and add CD sales. The creation of ring tones are in the works and licensing deals for wearable merchandise is underway too. It's also worth mentioning that the re-design of
Bassmint's record label and music publishing company web site
